Our speciality is residential architecture. Throughout our thirty years in practice, we have built our reputation on one-off houses, apartments, renovations, extensions and interiors. We know what makes a home tick; how storage works, the best kitchen layouts, where to accommodate a crowd for a party, an alcove for a quiet escape!
'I've had the good fortune of working closely with Seamus and Barbara of Studiomove on a number of large residential projects. I'm always impressed with their client and project centred focus. They challenge both our team and themselves to deliver outstanding work every time. Their personable nature and attention to detail has made working with them a pleasure.'

We’re both blow-ins to Limerick, but it’s our home now. We started our architectural practice in 1991, calling it Carr Associates Architects even though there were only two of us. As we grew with time, our projects also grew in scale, and we completed a number of large apartment and commercial schemes in Limerick city. We moved to a large office in the city, where we had a staff of ten.
We went from boom to bust and back again. The economic downturn meant we had to close the practice. We restarted again, just the two of us, as Carr Architects. Our former staff carried on as Carr Associates Architects Ltd., with whom we currently collaborate on larger projects.
We downsized to the studio in our back garden. This was designed originally for our two eldest boys when the house was bursting at the seams. It is a pleasant space, both as a small dwelling and an office. In time, we decided to focus on residential architecture, as that had always been the anchor of our work. This prompted a relaunch, and name change to Studiomove Architects. Thirty years later!
